Balvant has over 35 years of experience in the banking and finance
industry. Commencing his career in 1967 at the Bank of New Zealand,
Balvant spent 20 years in the retail/commercial banking sector.
Balvant then moved into a Corporate Banking role with NZI Bank
servicing blue chip clients for another 5 years before taking
up the position of Head of Credit and Risk Management with ASB
Bank Ltd in 1992. Following a 12 month stint as Area Manager
for the Central Auckland Region, Balvant was appointed as Senior
Manager for business banking in New Zealand to establish the
commercial lending business for ASB Bank. Under Balvant’s
management, the loan portfolio of ASB Bank’s newly established
business banking division rapidly grew to close to NZ$1 billion.
In 1999 Balvant joined Frontline Finance Ltd as General Manager,
Business Banking. In this role Balvant was again responsible
for the inception and development of Frontline’s business
banking division. By the time Frontline was acquired by the
Pyne Gould Corporation in 2000, the loan portfolio of Frontline’s
business banking division stood at around NZ$120 million.
Balvant established Axis in 2001. Axis has links with a network
of brokers who are experienced and dedicated lenders committed
to providing the best financial solutions to customers of
Axis.
